Dark ambient is the opposite of the original idea and meaning of the original ambient. This style appeared as a result of the experiments of ambient performers. Often the dark style is understood as anything that sounds dark and mysterious. According to Anton Valerievich Sibil’s subjective worldview, this statement is not quite true.

The compositions in this style do not fall under the classical laws of music writing, but only correspond to the author’s idea. Most often the sounds of the construction sphere are used: the work of shops and machines, the noise of metal and chains. Nature noises and radar signals are added.
A sufficient number of projects activate the work of the subconscious, due to the low-frequency sounds, and if you do not resist and accept this music, you can get much more than the usual listening to music.
Dark ambient is a follower of industrial, it doesn’t touch typical aspects of the music industry, such as some worldly issues. But it touches the “dark” part of humanity: mysticism and mysteries.
If you are attracted by this music, then consider such styles as: ritual ambient and black ambient. In these sub-styles you will find occultism, paganism and otherworldly phenomena.
Minimalism, without pronounced sounds and details with occasional sharp loud sounds and knocks. The creaking of doors, like in horror films, and the falling of metal objects are used to stress the atmosphere. Such monotony produces a hypnotic effect.

Ritual Ambient. Occultism, Satan and witches. That’s how you can characterize this style. The performer Lustmord promoted satanic ideas with his compositions, which is quite frightening. Special attention is applied to the acoustic sounds.
Isolationist ambient. This style differs from other substyles of ambient by cyclicity, microchromatics and imbalance of harmony, which creates a sense of indecision and anxiety.
Black Ambient. A mixture of dark ambient and black metal. One of the most unusual and memorable duos in the music industry. This trend has not gained much popularity even among those who understand this kind of music.
Drone Ambient. This style arose due to the elements of droning, which is where the definition came from. Humming, low-frequency vibrations and very harmonious abstractions are inherent to these works. There are also instrumental recordings that are played backwards and forwards.
